Hey guys, and welcome to my fall morning routine. I made a video/post last week all about how to schedule and plan your day for success by working with your Ayurvedic/Inner clock. And basically, because I’m all about getting granular, today I’m showing you what my cozy, hygge vibes morning routine looks like on albeit a very “ideal” morning.
So yes, that’s a fair disclaimer that I am human, I get busy, I fall off the bandwagon I’m not someone who has a perfect routine every day of their lives.
Just keeping it 100% real. But hey if you’re more of a video person check out the video here if not keep reading the post.
Okay, so I think it’s the creative in me but I’m all about setting the atmosphere before doing anything. So you bet the first thing I do in the am is prep my place for all the cozy fall vibes.
I wake up around 6 to 6:30 am on a good day. The first thing I do is make a cup of warm tea (after brushing my teeth and tongue scraping – yeah those are all ayurvedic things too). I always try to get something warm and hydrating in first thing in the am.
While I’m waiting for my water to boil I usually do a little tidying because I can’t think or relax in chaos. I’m not the biggest neat freak but you know, dishes don’t quite cut it when it comes to cozy vibes.
I also go in and light a fall candle, turn on my Himalayan sea salt lamp (because it’s been pitch black when I get up and this is such a mood on top of having a ton of other benefits like purifying the air and boosting your mood).
Lately, I’ve been enjoying working from the floor (yes, I’m basically a child). I lay down a ton of huge blankets prop up tons of pillows and get my lap desk out. I mean seriously is there anything cozier??
After my tea is ready I start reading. I usually read a personal development or business sort of book in the morning. I just feel like it’s a really great way to kind of awaken my mind. Right now I’m reading Girl On Fire by Cara Alwill Leyba aka The Champagne Diet which is all about burning the rule book and doing your own thing in life and business. Which, if you know me, that is what I’m all about.
I then jump into some meditation. I’ve worked myself up to 10 minutes and I’m pretty damn proud of myself because meditation is HARD. I have the attention span of a squirrel so sitting still is not easy. But I honestly see it as a mental exercise and that’s why I’ve stuck with doing it. It’s kind of like training myself to control my mind and thoughts.
Next, I do is some writing. I wouldn’t call it journaling because it’s like zero feelings. I literally write out three things I’m grateful for and writing out some goals that I have both more long-term and short-term.
After I’ve done more of this slower morning work I like to work out and get some light exercise in. I’m currently using the Shreddy app and it’s pretty awesome while I listen to my Halloween playlist because I’m obsessed with Halloween and it’s the perfect playlist to get me amped.
After I finish my workout I jump in the shower, do my hair and makeup with my fall playlist in the background (I can’t do anything without music or a podcast in the background).
By this time I’m starting to get a little hungry. I basically have pancakes every day because it’s my fav. But I have to make them a little bit healthier and I usually switch up the recipe for some variety but it’s always gluten-free and vegan. And because tis the season for fall I add SO much cinnamon and pumpkin spice. I put cinnamon on as many things as I can year-round, it lowers your blood pressure and has a ton of other benefits.
Speaking of I have totally been into making pumpkin drinks usually a pumpkin spice latte in the am. I found this super easy recipe that I made a variation from so I can do low sugar (I use stevia) and make it vegan (because Starbucks still hasn’t gotten with the times). And yes I’m also adding a ton of cinnamon and pumpkin spice, in it, on top of it, I sprinkle that shit everywhere.
Anyways, I take my breakfast over to my little blanket set up and start doing light work. Like I mentioned in my video/post this is still the Kapha phase until 10am so I’m not starting my heavy work quite yet. I usually go through organizing and planning out my day and time blocking in Google cal. I might do some learning or other light work depending on what I have time for.
And that concludes my fall cozy routine. But like I said, although I might have a more “idealistic” routine some days there are other days that my routine looks really different, a lot shorter and a lot simpler because life happens.
If you’re someone who’s busy, works a 9-5 or has 100 things on your plate and feel like your routine looks so different or is non-existent then you should totally listen to my recent podcast episode on The Revolutionista Podcast where my biz partner and I break down creating a routine that actually works for you and your lifestyle even if that means you only have 5 min in the am.
Anyways thanks so much for reading. Let me know, what is one non-negotiable for you and your morning routine?
