If you are an online business I’m sure you’ve heard the term personal brand. You might be wondering what it is, and if you need one.
⠀
A personal brand is more than having a business or service. It’s about establishing a long term know, like, and trust factor & personable connection with your community.
If you are an agency or larger busienss then a business brand might be better suited for you. But, if you are a solopreneur, a service-based business or coach I would highly recommend you have a personal brand.
Well, first off people like to buy from other people. As humans, we want connection with other humans, to be able to resonate with someone or feel like we’re being heard & understood by them. ⠀
Also, long term your business has the ability to morph with you – think longevity. If you change paths you have a community that will move with you as you and your business evolve.⠀
You are actually your brand, so it’s more than what you do for business but who you are as a person. At the end of the day, there are a TON of people that do what you do. The largest difference you have going for you is you. No one else has you or your personality. So own that, okay?
✔️ Remember your personal brand is completely yours – It should feel comfortable. You should never feel like you have to act or be someone who you’re not. If something doesn’t feel right (that doesn’t mean you don’t challenge yourself) don’t do it. You’re the boss, you are you so do you.
⠀
✔️Play to your strengths – build your personal brand somewhere that is sustainable for you! Are you more verbal in your communication? Maybe you should have a podcast. Do you like writing? Maybe a blog is your best bet. If you’re more visual maybe Instagram is your focus?
⠀
✔️Show your face! Believe me, I understand it’s nerve-wracking. When I first started my Instagram I tried SO hard to talk myself out of having to post my face – I had detested having pictures taken of me for my entire life. But when your competition is out there being personal and showing up every day and you’re hiding behind stock images think about your ideal client and what they might gravitate more towards? Heck, think about yourself, who do you have a better connection with?
⠀
✔️Be consistent – with your messaging and your content. You don’t want any confusion. Your social handles, website name, etc. should all be the same if you can. As should your profile pictures. Your content has to be relevant. Create content pillars and stick to it. Things get very muddled when you talk about 100 different topics, you end up confusing your current audience, and detering prospective clients.
⠀
✔️Identifiable factors – This is the fun part. It goes beyond graphics. This is about the way you dress, talk, and show up. Your likes, interests, color pallet is all part of your brand. What visuals or elements do you want people to associate with your brand? For example, black is my color, you see it in my graphics but in how I dress and other accessories. But it can also be that you’re obsessed with wine and Ariana Grande so every time someone hears one of her songs they think about you. Become
⠀
Having a personal brand breaths humanity into your business. It makes you relatable and builds a connection with your ideal client. When people come to work with you, they don’t come because you’re a copywriter but because they want to work with you! I mean come on that’s pretty awesome.
Great content! Super high-quality! Keep it up! 🙂
